Today marks the tenth anniversary of the official opening of Aberystwyth Fire Station, a milestone that reflects a decade of dedicated service to the communities of Aberystwyth and the surrounding area.

The station was officially opened on October 13th 2016 by former Chief Fire Officer Chris Davies and the then Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children, the late Carl Sargeant MS.  The new facility represented a significant investment in community safety and modern emergency response capabilities.

Construction of the £1.6 million fire station began in July 2015 on the site of the former station, replacing a building that had served the community since 1962.  Designed to meet the needs of a modern fire and rescue service, the station features three appliance bays, office accommodation and a dedicated community room for events, training and engagement activities.

The official opening was celebrated with a community event that welcomed pupils from Ysgol Llwyn yr Eos, Ysgol Gymraeg Aberystwyth, Plascrug Community School and St Padarn’s Primary School. As part of the celebrations, artwork created by winners of a primary school competition was proudly displayed throughout the new station, highlighting the strong links between the fire station and the local community.

Ten years on, Aberystwyth Fire Station remains at the heart of the community, providing a modern base for Firefighters to protect lives, property and the environment.  The station continues to play a vital role in supporting emergency response and delivering safety initiatives across Aberystwyth and the surrounding areas.

As we celebrate this anniversary, we look back with pride on the station's first decade and thank the Firefighters, staff and community members who have contributed to its success.  We look forward to many more years of serving and protecting our communities.
